What is MetroSet2 and where can it be downloaded? Which interface needs to be used to connect a scanner to MetroSet2? Which cable is recommended to connect scanners to MetroSet2? What utility to use for configuring the scanner? What is the replacement cable for 54-54000, 59-59014-FR, 54-54104A? My device is losing its settings when configuring it with an older version of MetroSet. Where can I find a newer one?
MetroSet2 is a Windows based software tool which can be downloaded for free from here, and supports all products mentioned in the 'Applies to' section.
With MetroSet2 the configuration of a scanner can be uploaded, a customized configuration can be downloaded to the scanner and the scanner can be flashed with firmware over a serial interface.
All products listed under 'applies to' support the RS232 Interface (the none RS232 scanners have this interface as optional secondary interface available) which is required to upload / download the configuration or to flash the scanner. There are various serial interface cables that can be used, although some have gone EOL, and can no longer be ordered. (check Honeywell price list).
If the scanner can not be connected to MetroSet2 via RS232 or USB POS bi-directional interface, it is possible to print out configuration bar codes with MetroSert2 for off-line configuration. Note: MetroSet2 is supported by Windows Operating Systems Windows 2000 / Vista / XP and Windows 7 - 32 bits. With 64 bits operating systems there may be problems with the up- and download function. This is currently under investigation by engineering. There is no configuration tool for other Operating Systems like Linux or MacOS available.
